PE bag compacting and pelletizing


1 Introduction of the raw material
1.1 Definition
PE is referred to polyethylene, PE is a thermoplastic resin obtained by polymerization of ethylene. In industry, also include the copolymers of ethylene with a small amount of α- olefins, this is a kind of transparent plastic bag, which can be used in clothing, luggage, electronic products packaging.


1.2 Characteristics
Polyethylene has excellent low temperature properties (lowest temperature can reach -70~-100) and good chemical stability, resistance to most acid-base erosion (intolerance with oxidation properties of acid). Under the normal temperature, it will not soluble in common solvents, it has low water absorption, and excellent electrical insulating properties. But polyethylene is very sensitive for environmental stress, like chemical and mechanical effect, and polyethylene also has a poor heat aging resistance. Different kinds of polyethylene has different properties, it mainly depend on the density and molecular structure.

1.3 Bag types
Divided by material, PE can divide into LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE etc.
Divided by production process, PE bags can divide into PE flat bags, self-styled bags, zipper storage bags, zipper bags, envelope bags, perforated bags, hand bags, PE film etc.

The recycled granules widely used in producing film, container, pipe, monofilament, electric wire, commodity and other insulating material etc.

It can be used in plastic injection, plastic blow, and plastic extrusion field, like the bottle cap, bucket, food container, garbage can, plastic flower, blow molding product, film blowing, pipe, construction materials, plastic sheet etc.

3 Recycling methods of waste PE bags
1. Melting regenerated method, re-heating the waste plastic and take advantage of that.
2. Pyrolysis method, pyrolysis the pick-off waste PE bags to get the burning fuel oil and fuel gas.
3. Energy recovery method, recover the heat energy during the combustion of waste PE bags.
4. Chemical raw materials recycling method, some plastics can obtain the raw chemical monomers by hydrolysis of polyurethane.
5. Filler recovery method, waste PE bags as a filler material to making other products.

4ACERETECH PE bag compacting and pelletizing system

The ACS series PE bag plastic compacting and pelletizing system combines function of crushing, compacting, plasticization and pelletizing to one step, applied in the plastics recycling and pelletizing process. ACS system is a reliable and efficiency solution for PE bag plastics. Final productions produced by ACS system are in the form of pellets/ granules, can directly put into the production line.

5Working steps of ACS Series PE bag compacting and pelletizing system


Feeding: as standard design, PE bag conveyed into the compacting room through belt conveyor; to handle rolls' scraps, roll hauling off device is an optional feeding method. Motor drives of conveyor belt and hauling device cooperate with ABB inverter. Feeding speed of conveyor belt or roll hauling off is fully automatic based on how full the compactor's room is. Metal detector can be combined with belt conveyor, and can interlock with control system, to warn and stop the system, in case that metal is found in feeding section.


Crushing and compacting: the rotatory blades of compactor will cut up incoming scraps. Frictional heating which caused by high speed rotatory blades will heat and let scraps shrinking just below their agglomerating point. Optimal designed guide structure compacts the material and directs it into extruder screw. Crushes, dries and compacts the material which enables a fast and stable feeding from the compactor directly into the extruder.


Plasticization and degassing: A specialized single screw extruder applied to gently melt the pre-compacted material. The plastic scraps will be well melted, plasticized in a 32 to 34D processing section. With double-zone vacuum degassing system, volatiles such as low molecular and moisture will be removed efficiency, especially suitable to heavy printed film and material with some water content.


Melt filtration: a regular single-plate/ piston double-station screen changer or non-stop double-plate/ piston four-station can be installed on head of extruder to present significant filtration performance. The requirements on the filter technology depend heavily on the quality of the input material as well as the planned use of granules. 


Pelletizing: die-face water ring pelletizing system set as the standard granulating method in ACS system. Self-adjusting pelletizing head for the best granulate quality and long uptime thanks to consistently correct blades pressure. RPM of rotatory blades is automatic based on melt extruding pressure. Advanced dewatering vibration sieve combining with horizontal-type centrifugal dewatering present high performance dried pellets.
